Verification of certificates for football, basketball, squash, badminton and lawn tennis will take place on June 17 from 9am to 5pm. For cricket, table tennis, shooting and swimming certificate verification will take place on June 18 from 9am to 5pm. The sports trials are to start from June 19, with football being the first sport. Candidates are to apply online for admission to this category as there are no printed forms available.
Sports admissions will be done based on the composite merit of the applicants assessed on the scheme of weightage with sports merit (certificates and field trials) being given 60% weightage, best-of-four subjects or physics, chemistry and mathematics aggregate in Class XII 25% weightage and interview 15% weightage.
For the forthcoming academic session, the college has increased fees by 2-5%. The humanity courses are now costlier by Rs 1,225 per annum and science courses are Rs 1,345 more. Hostel fees have been increased by Rs 7,100 per annum.
The new hostel fee is Rs 44,450 per annum. The annual fees for humanity courses is Rs 23,660; for physics and chemistry it is Rs 25,655 and for mathematics it is Rs 24,020. Students with disabilities are exempted from all fees except the university examination fee and identity card charges. They are, however, to bear 50% of the mess charges, if staying in hostel.
In all, 8,200 candidates have registered of whom 5,450 has completed the process and made the requisite payments. Most applications have been received for English at 1,360 followed by 1,350 for economics till 5.30pm on Friday.
