The Governor of Punjab has conducted a notification for admission into MBBS / BDS courses in Medical and Dental Institutes in the state of Punjab for the session 2016.

Latest -Details of 3rd round counselling for MBBS & BDS admission 2016 has been announced.

Also Note- 150 seats of MBBS course session 2016 of Chintpurni Medical College, Pathankot will be filled through physical counseling to be held w.e.f 28.9.2016 to 30.9.2016

All admissions of Govt. Quota seats in Govt. and Private Institutions shall be based on merit of Punjab Medical Entrance Test-2016 (PMET-2016) and all admissions in Private I Minority Institutions in Management Quota Seats including NRI and Minority Quota seats shall be based on merit of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-2016) issued by Government of India.

The Governor of Punjab is pleased to authorize Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot (BFUHS) to conduct PMET-2016 for Govt. Quota seats in Govt. and Private Institutions and to conduct centralized counselling for admissions on the basis of marks obtained in PMET-2016 and NEET 2016 as applicable. Admission to NRI seats of Govt. Medical Colleges shall be based on merit of a separate entrance test to be conducted by BFUHS Faridkot.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the admission year.

Candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50°/o marks (45°/o for Persons with Locomotor Disability of Lower Limbs and 40% for SC/BC) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology (PCB) in 10+2 examination or other equivalent examination of 10+2.

Candidate should have passed qualifying examination as under

  • The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years education structure as recommended by the National Committee of Education; OR
  • Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology including a practical test in each of these subjects and English;

For admission to Govt. Quota Seats in MBBS/BDS course, it shall be necessary for the candidate to obtain minimum of 50% marks (45% for candidates with Locomotor Disability of Lower Limbs and 40% for SC/BC categories) in PMET-2016.

The inter-se-merit of candidates for tie-breaking in PMET-20116 shall be determined in the following manner:

  • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology {Botany & Zoology) in the PMET-2016.
  • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the PMET-2016.
  • Candidates older in age.

Eligibility criteria for admission in Private / Minority Institutions of Management Quota Seats including NRI and Minority Quota seats in MBBS/BDS course shall be in accordance with eligibility criteria as prescribed in Chapter 6 of the information bulletin for National Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test (session 2016-17) issued by CBSE.

Admission Procedure

  • After the declaration of the PMET-2016 and NEET-2016 result, the candidates shall apply on the specific proforma for all seats, except All India. quota seats, to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, (BFUHS), Faridkot. Admission shall be made by the selection committee through a centralized counselling by BFUHS, Faridkot on the basis of inter-se merit of PMET-2016 and NEET-2016.
  • A candidate from reserved Category shall have the right to compete for admission in open merit or General category seats as per his/her merit on the day of counselling and candidate so selected shall not be counted towards admission in the reserve category.
  • The schedule of counselling, admission and start of classes shall be in conformity with the schedule laid down by Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India/ Hon’ble Supreme Court of India / State Government. Fee and other charges for submission of the application and counselling shall be notified by the University as per Government approval.
  • Out of the total seats in government institutes, 15% seats (All India Quota) in MBBS/BDS courses shall be filled by the Government of India through centralized counselling by Central Board of Secondary Examination on the basis of marks obtained in NEET-2016. (Rest 85% seats shall be filled by the selection committee constituted by the Government of Punjab, as per merit of PMET-2016).
