Admission to Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme of IGNOU

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme of IGNOU aims at developing the understanding and competencies required by practising teachers for effective teaching-learning process at the secondary stage. The programme also provides opportunities of sharing experiences gained by practising teachers. It enables in-service teachers to select and organise learning experiences according to the requirement of learners. In addition, it provides knowledge and develops in them an understanding of areas such as educational evaluation, school management, etc. Last date to submit filled-in application form to the concerned Regional Centre 15th July, 2009 Date of Entrance Test - 16.8.2009 Price : Rs. 500/- at counter and Rs. 550/- by post (Including Registration Fee) Duration : The minimum duration of the programme is two years. However, the maximum period allowed for completion of the programme will be four years. Medium of Instruction : English and Hindi Eligibility : In-service teachers with i)A bachelor degree or a higher degree from any recognised university. ii)Two years’ full time teaching experience on temporary/permanent basis as Primary/Graduate/Post Graduate teacher in a primary, secondary/higher/senior secondary school recognised by the central or a state government or a union territory. The teacher should be in service at the time of submitting application form as well as at the time of producing the original documents at the Regional Centre. The experience certificate should be issued by the Principal or Headmaster/Headmistress. The requisite teaching experience of two years must be completed on or before the last date of submission of application as notified in the advertisement. An attested photocopy of the Recognition and Affiliation Certificate issued to the school by the Central or a State Government or Union Territory must be enclosed along with other documents at the time of admission. The candidate should submit their application form at the concerned Regional Centre under whose jurisdiction the school where he/she is working falls. Admission : Admission will be done Regional Centre-wise on the basis of the score obtained in the entrance test conducted by IGNOU all over India. The candidate will be required to submit only the filled-in application form without enclosures. The enclosures (documents) mentioned in the instructions for filling-in the application form are to be submitted later after receiving the offer letter for admission to B.Ed. from the Regional Centre after the entrance test. The change of programme centre outside the Region is not permissible. Entrance Test : The Entrance Test will be held on 16th August 2009. For appearing in the Entrance Test, a candidate has to fill up the Application Form for B.Ed. Entrance Test which is enclosed with this Student’s Handbook and Prospectus 2010. No other document is required to be submitted alongwith this form. Hall tickets will be provided to the candidates before 10 days of the Entrance Test. In case of non-receipt of Hall Tickets 3 days before the date of Entrance Test, candidates can download Hall Ticket from IGNOU website: www.ignou.ac.in. and report to the Examination Centre for appearing in the Entrance Test. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Course Description: Diploma in Management (DM) Eligibility: All the above programmes have multi-media design, and technology aided delivery systems. These are offered through countrywide network of study centres. The University will be admitting the students for the above degree/diplomas in Management starting from January, 2011 through an Entrance Test 'OPENMAT-XXVIII' to be held on Sunday, the 22nd August, 2010 all over the country. Eligibility for Admission 1. Graduation in any discipline with 50% marks for General Category and 45% for Reserved Category. OR Bachelor's degree with 3 years of Supervisory/ managerial/professional experience, or Professional Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine / Architecture / Law / Pharmacy; or Professional Qualifications in Accountancy/ Cost and Works Accountancy/Company Secretary ship etc. or Masters Degree in any subject. 2. Clearance of OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU. Candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance test for admission into Management Programme conducted by the institutions like CAT, MAT and State Level tests need not appear in OPENMAT. The cut off percentage for admission of these candidates will be decided by the university. 3.Non-graduates (10+2 or equivalent) with six years of Managerial/supervisory/ professional experience are eligible for taking admission into Diploma in Management only after clearing the entrance test. IGNOU to offer full-time programmes on campus

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will offer 14 new postgraduate programmes from the session starting this July. The university has also opted to offer these programmes along the lines of conventional (regular) programmes for a select number of candidates. “These are specialised courses and require face-to-face interaction. So, we decided to offer these programmes on a full-time basis on Ignou’s campus at Maidan Garhi (near Sainik Farms),” said V N Rajasekharan Pillai, vice-chancellor, Ignou. However, Pillai pointed out that Ignou will not shed its identity of an institution for distance learning. “Although some students will be able to attend classes on campus, material would also be prepared for those who want to pursue these courses through the distance learning mode.” The university plans to webcast and broadcast the classroom lectures for those who would opt for the distance mode. Pillai added that there will be a rigorous selection procedure for candidates opting for on-campus training. “We would conduct an entrance test for each of these programmes. Approximately 20 candidates would be selected for every programme with reservation for SC/ST and OBC candidates.” Regarding the fees, Pillai said that the programme cost would be similar to what is charged in any other central or state university. “We have also decided to offer scholarships for deserving candidates,” he added. The programmes that would be offered on a full-time basis include Master’s in electronic media production and management, labour and development, translation studies; MSc in actuarial science and chemistry; MTech in airport infrastructure engineering; integrated MSc and PhD in physics and astrophysics. “These are innovative courses developed in response to increasing demand.
