Under this circumstances, the Central Teachers Eligibility Test – JAN 2012 in the above states are postponed to 5^th May, 2012 (Saturday).  The details of the postponed examination are as follows:

The candidates appearing from the above examination centers are advised to preserve the Admit Cards to appear for the postponed examination on 5^th May, 2012 (SATURDAY).

In the remaining states the CTET-JAN 2012 examination will be held as per the Schedule on 29.01.2012 (Sunday).

Eligibility

(i)                He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./B.D.S. course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.

(ii)              The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination. Further provided that upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes.

(iii)            The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Bio-technology at the qualifying examination.
In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates.

Further, for persons for locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those who are appearing plus two examination in 2012 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.

A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 12th Standard in 2012 whose result is awaited, may also apply and take up the said test but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the MBBS or BDS, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks at the time of first round of allotment by personal appearance.

The entrance examination consists of:

Preliminary Examination: The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 3 hours.

Final Examination: (Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination). The Final Examination would consist of one paper containing 120 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 3 hours.

CBSE 2012 Date Sheet For Class XII

First year PUC students (11th standard) would have CBSE syllabus from 2012-13 and continue with it next year (12th standard). Those who are in second PUC (12th standard) next year (2012-13) would, however, have state syllabus, he told reporters here.

“The aim is to see that the students are able to compete in all-India exams effectively,” the Minister said.

Bridge course would be conducted after SSLC (10th standard) as students are bound to face some hardship and pressure while switching over to the CBSE syllabus, Kageri said, adding, teachers would also be trained in the process.

Fifth and 8th standard students would have new text books from the coming academic year (2012-13), while the remaining standards would have new books from 2013-14, he said.

Course materials on the lines of CBSE are being finalised by resource persons as per the National Curriculum Framework 2005, the Minister said, adding extensive consultations had been held with former education ministers, experts and NGOs on updating content in tune with present times.

Meanwhile, Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri said said the Government would open a security press at Peenya here in the next financial year.

Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri also said the two-day “Kadambotsava-2011″, a mega cultural fest, would be held at the ancient city of Banavasi in Uttara Kannada district from December 24. On the occasion, the coveted “Pampa Prashasti” award would be presented to acclaimed Kannada literary figure Chandrashekar Patil (Champa) by Karnataka chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda.

The preliminary examinations will be conducted on April 1 and the main examinations will take place on May 13.

CBSE has informed that it will conduct Medical Entrance Examination in 2012, exclusively for the 15% merit positions for the Medical/Dental Colleges of India asspecified in the directive of the court.

The exam will be governed by the rules and regulations specified for the same by the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from time to time.

CBSE’s announcement for AIPMT schedule brought relief for the students, who were confused whether the exam for 2012 will take place or not.

Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as optional subjects during 2010 or 2011, and those who are appearing for the examination during 2012, may apply. The applicants should have been born on or after October 1, 1987. In the case of applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and those physically challenged, the date is October 1, 1982. Detailed eligibility criteria are given on www.aieee.nic.in.

Applications can be submitted online till December 31 on the website. The online examination fee is Rs.500 for BE or B.Tech. admission test. For taking B.Arch. and B.Planning entrance test too, remit Rs.1,100. For the reserved sections, the fees are Rs.250 and Rs.550, respectively.

The offline examination fee is Rs.800 for BE or B.Tech. tests. For taking B.Arch. and B.Planning tests too, pay Rs.1,400. For reserved sections, the fees are Rs.400 and Rs.700, respectively.

Those who choose examination centres abroad have to pay Rs.2,000 and Rs.1,000, respectively, for BE or B.Tech. and B.Arch. and B.Planning courses. The examination fee should be paid in the form of a demand draft drawn from a nationalised or scheduled bank, payable in Delhi, in favour of the Secretary, CBSE, Delhi.

Confirmation page of the online application, along with the demand draft and true copies of certificates, should be sent as per guidelines by registered post to the Assistant Secretary (AIEEE), PS 1-2, Institutional Area, Patparganj, Delhi – 110 092 so as to reach the addressee on or before January 5.

Paper 1 of the test consists of objective-type questions with equal weight to physics, chemistry, and mathematics. It will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on April 29 for the offline test. Paper 2, exclusively for B.Arch. and B.Planning admissions, will have objective-type questions from mathematics, besides aptitude and drawing tests. This will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The online tests will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for admission of students to undergraduate courses in 335 medical colleges of the country is scheduled to be held on May 13 next year, the MCI today said even as the nod of the Ministry of Health in this connection is awaited.

The Council also uploaded core syllabus on which NEET-UG will be based and students can upload the same from its website.

Meanwhile, an element of uncertainty continued on the exam with the Ministry of Health¿s notification in respect of NEET still awaited.

The MCI today said time was crucial in holding the test. “We are ready and so is the CBSE. We are waiting for the Ministry to notify the same. We hope it would be done soon,” MCI officials said.

A senior official of the Department said that the CCE will be introduced for classes IX and X from 2013-14. “The modalities in teacher training will have to be worked out soon. We have just initiated the process,” he said.

Currently, CCE is the prevalent evaluation system followed in all schools affiliated to the CBSE. It seeks to spread the evaluation over an entire academic year, rather than judging a student’s potential and performance based on select term-end or annual examinations.

The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Act 2009 also emphasises the need for a continuous and comprehensive evaluation system that would factor in various aspects, including a student’s ability to work in a team, communication skills and creative ability.

GRADING SYSTEM

As per the CCE, students are evaluated through Formative Assessments (FA) that is conducted throughout each term, and Summative Assessments (SA) carried out at the end of a particular term. Scholastic areas covering all academic subjects and non-scholastic areas, including life skills, arts and sports will be considered in the evaluation. While the FA will be carried out by the teacher for class participation, projects and discussions, SA will largely be done through a paper-pen test.
The FAs (accounting for 40 marks) and SAs (for 60 marks) thrice, covering three terms and the cumulative scores would be converted to grades, on a 10-point scale.

Welcoming the State government’s initiative, CBSE school heads observed that the move will bring in more parity among schools across Boards. C.Satish, Senior Principal, R.M.K. Group of Schools, said: “It is a great initiative. It is the best way to assess students and we see that students do not get unnecessarily stressed around examination time.”

All the same, M.Chidambarahari, Advisory-President, Tamil Nadu Graduate Teacher’s Association, has a word of caution for the Department. “A good programme to train teachers should be introduced first. The Department should not introduce the CCE in a hurry before that. Also, the Directorate of Government Examinations or some other agency should act as a monitoring body, to see if teachers have done a fair job of evaluation,” he said.

Additionally, the syllabus should also be periodically updated and emphasis should be on encouraging students to apply concepts learnt, he added.
