The online version of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) 2012 will have an additional feature for students under which they can attempt the questions in multiple languagesi.e English as well as Hindi, according to their convenience.

According to this new feature, for example, if a student is not able to understand a question in English, he / she can switch on to the Hindi format of the question and attempt it and thereafter continue with English for the next question. The language can be switched as many times as the examinee wants.

The evaluation process will not be affected by this switching of language in any manner. Apart from this, a copy of the question paper will automatically be e-mailed to students after the online exam.

Currently under the offline mode, a similar feature is provided to only those who opt for the paper in Hindi. For them the question paper is available in both the languages. While attempting the offline test, English medium students are deprived of this facility.

The online version of AIEEE 2012 is scheduled from May 7 – May 26, while the offline version will be held on April 29, 2012. This will provide an extra advantage to those who choose the online version as these students will have extended time period for preparation. Moreover, the three-hour long online exam will be held twice daily starting at 9 am for the morning session and 2 pm for the afternoon session.

Undertaking a massive upgrade in its examination system, the Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to conduct the All India Engineering Entrance Examination online in 22 cities including Bangalore from next year.

The online test will be conducted from May 7 to May 25 in 2012, with a flexible schedule for the candidates. The 22 cities marked for conducting online test also include Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Vijayawada and Ernakulam.

“In these cities, the examination will only be in an online mode,” a senior official of the Human Resource Development Ministry said. The decision to expand the reach of online AIEEE has been taken after the Board “successfully” conducted the test on pilot basis in some cities this year.

“It will be a Computer Based Test (CBT), just like the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted for admissions in management institutes,” the official said, adding that a competent agency will be engaged to ensure smooth conduct of the online test.

The candidates who wish to appear for online examination will be given an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the online examination. A mock test software will be uploaded on CBSE website later in December this year in order to give examinees an opportunity to understand and practice the new system.

Moreover, the examinees, who will appear in the online test in 2012, will be given a concession of Rs 150 to 300 in their examination fees.

Many students in the last AIEEE had faced problems due to leak of question papers in Uttar Pradesh. “The online test to be conducted next year is expected to bring down the number of errors as well as make the system foolproof. This will also benefit the students by making the process of taking the exam much less cumbersome,” a CBSE official said.
In order to provide wider availability of application forms, this year CBSE has decided to accept applications for examination through online mode only and no physical form will be sold.

“This has been done to ensure availability of forms through CBSE orAIEEE website at all places and without any time restriction,” the official said.

The All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) will go completely online from this year, just like the Common Admission Test (CAT) for IIMs. The CBSE, which conducts the national exam every year, decided to to go ahead with the move on account of the leak of a question paper last year which forced several students to take the exam again. The next AIEEE is scheduled to be held nationwide on April 29, 2012.

Last year, a majority of the students opted for the conventional exam since the option was allowed. The plan was to conduct online exams for one lakh students out of the 11.5 lakh applicants, but less than 5,000 students opted for the online exam. In Andhra Pradesh, of the 1.5 lakh applicants, less than 100 opted for the online exam last year. This year, the CBSE has decided not to give students the option.

“This year, the CBSE is planning to conduct online exams on a mass scale. Students are advised to acquaint themselves with the new method,” a CBSE circular stated. An competent agency will be employed to ensure smooth conduct of the test. About 28,000 B.Tech seats and 1,000 B. Arch seats are filled annually through the AIEEE.

The uniqueness of the AIEEE 2011 counselling that is now in progress is the endeavour by the Central Counselling Board (CCB) to make the process candidate-friendly, reducing students’ anxiety arising from procedural difficulties.

The process that began with online registration, filling up of choices and choice locking from June 11 to 23, is scheduled to end with the last activity of ‘admission to allotted institute against spot round allotment’ from August 16 to 20. The classes will begin on July 21 in the participating institutions, after the third of the five rounds of seat allotment. Internal sliding of seats will take place on August 9, and the vacancies will be displayed on the CCB website www.ccb.nic.in on August 10. Internal sliding within an institute will be carried out centrally through the CCB based on all-India rank and on the basis of the branch choices given at the time of admission to the institute. The CCB brochure states that more admission rounds will be conducted depending on the number of vacant seats after spot round allotments.

The online counselling process initiated a couple of years ago has been modified and improved this time by the CCB. The important changes this year constitute special provision to correct erroneous entries made by candidates with regard to his/her State of eligibility and category; improved process (entry/exit) of counselling and choice filling; inclusion of spot round after five rounds of allotment; addition of reporting/ help centres; electronic fee repayment/refund; video/ power point-based training and demonstration for online registration and choice filling; distribution of the brochure detailing the entire process to all 11.5 lakh applicants.

So far there have been over one lakh hits for the video and audio training modules for the benefit of candidates with rural background on the online procedure to fill forms, locking choices, and reporting to reporting/help centres, hosted in the servers of CCB and YouTube since June 6. The message from the CCB Chairman could attract 28,000 hits.

Improvements have also been made in score card presentation, and SMS alerts will be given to candidates as and when allotments are made, the CCB Chairman and Director of National Institute of Technology-Suratkal, Sandeep Sancheti, said during an interaction session at National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi, where he holds additional charge as Director.

Reduction in paper work owing to the e-challan payment system, provision in the spot round for candidates who have already been admitted into IITs but wish to pursue a better programme in NITs; and removal of the possibility for vacancies to arise in the 71 participating colleges (30 National Institutes of Technology, five Indian Institutes of Information Technology, 13 Central/State funded institutions; and 23 self-financed institutions), totally accounting for 34,011 seats, figure among the main advantages accruing from the improved process.

In the spot round, which will be a physical round, students will be able to fill choices from seats available, Dr. Sancheti said. Seat allotment is done based on the candidate’s all-India rank. The number of seats has increased by about 5,000 this year, and the number of participating institutions by eight. Over four lakh candidates out of 10.5 lakh students who sat for AIEEE, have qualified, and 2,09744 out of the qualified candidates have registered for the counselling. In Tamil Nadu, 9,600 out of 24,490 candidates who appeared for the AIEEE have qualified, and 5,600 have registered, Dr. Sanchetti said.

With the allotment of seats in AIEEE colleges set to begin on June 25, Science courses in the Delhi University that are already admitting students are expected to see a movement. The results and scores for the All Indian Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) were declared this month and the process of counselling is still on. The first allotment of seats would begin on June 25 and by that time Delhi University colleges would have completed admissions to Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry courses for the second cut off lists. In fact, some of the colleges in the University have already taken in admissions beyond capacity in some of these subjects. But movement is likely once the AIEEE allotment begins on June 25.

“The AIEEE colleges in Delhi like Delhi Technical University (DTU) and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) together offer over 1000 seats in the general category and many students who have already taken admissions in DU and also qualified for these institutions might shift once allotted seats,” said Suman Kumar Verma, Joint Dean Students’ Welfare at DU. Delhi University began admissions a week earlier than last year, announcing first cut offs on June 15. Last year, the first cut off was announced on June 22 and the AIEEE allotment process had begun on June 25.

In the Science stream, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry courses have been a popular draw this year as well, so has been the BSc (Computer Science) course.

This means that if you are in the General category and scored 48 points atleast then you are allowed to take part in the 2011 AIEEE online consultation. Map of AIEEE 2011 scores would be sent to you in the coming days. Once the Council begins, you can visit the official page of the AIEEE Board and fill your choice here – http://ccb.nic.in

Online registration begins June 11, after which you would be able to fill your choice. This first series will go up to 23 rd June 11. Locking of the seats in your selected colleges starts at 18th and 23rd stays up. After locking success of seats, the BCC (counseling Central Council) would report the seats allocated to the web site on June 25. You will be able to see the colleges granted to you and if you want, you do not have to go to the reporting centre and select three best colleges for you. Later, you will be notified of the colleges you obtained. Even the classes will begin July 21 for the first rounds of tips.

If you are not sure what College to select, and then do a search on the Internet or ask your elders who are studying or who adopted engineering. Basically, a college or an Institute which is old enough with teachers, a good and placement Office is regarded as a good college. Most colleges have their web site where you can check everything in terms of their provision. It is also important to choose the industry you love more or who have an interest to the extent that you feel pretty or bored any student once you admission. We hope you find your college favorite according to rank you get. Let us know if you have any questions in mind.
