The Goa Board introduced the grading system during the April 2011 public exams, but decided to mark students with grades as well as marks on the marksheets to enable them to understand the system during the first year of the grading system’s implementation. The board continued the system of allotting marks and grades during this year’s exams too after confusion in 2011 over conversion of marks into grades.

In the 2012-13 academic year, the Goa Board will finally put its original plans of marking students only in grades into force.

“The board’s statement of grades cum passing certificate shall contain only grades secured by the candidate (during the academic year 2012-13). However, the marks range equivalent of a grade will be given on the reverse of the certificate,” states the circular of the Goa board issued to all high schools and higher secondary schools under its control.

The grading system in its current form will continue to be in force. A student who has secured ‘A’ grade falls in the marks range of 91 to 100%, one who has secured ‘B’ grade falls in the range of 81 to 90% marks, ‘C’ grade will translate into 71 to 80% marks and so on and so forth.

The new circular also states that if a student wishes to seek admissions to an institute based outside Goa, which needs to know the exact marks scored by the student as part of its admission procedure, then the Goa board will ‘issue transcript of marks directly to the institutions/boards/universities’ to which the student has sought admission.

The new circular of the board also states that whenever there is a revision in syllabus, ‘the repeaters will be given three years to procure qualifying grades, including the year of his/her first attempt at the public examination, in the pre-revised syllabus/text in which the examination was answered at the first attempt. Thereafter, the repeater candidate shall have to answer the uncleared subject/s in the revised syllabus’. Students who have cleared the Class X and XII examinations will be given just one opportunity to improve their grades within two years of passing the exams. The new circular states that the first mid-term test is to be conducted in the first week of August, the first term examination prior to the Diwali vacation and the second term examination during January.

Over the past two decades, AIMA’s Management Aptitude Test (MAT) has been successfully availed by students across the country seeking admission in B-Schools. It remains the largest test in its category in terms of participation and reach, with several lakh students availing it each year. Today, over 600 B-schools in the country recognize and use MAT for admission to their institutions.

Eligibility : The candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (55% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ OBC), of any of the Universities incorporated in any act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institution established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The core objective of APSS programme is to build the capacity of policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as the general public in environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development. It will help those involved in agriculture to launch an era of ever-green revolution which can help enhance productivity in perpetuity without ecological harm.

The other online programme, APSMW, aims to provide introduction to the importance of wetlands, the cause of their degradation, restoration efforts and sustainable management. It enhances awareness on the role of wetlands on social, cultural and livelihood dimensions of the dependent communities.

Candidates who are graduate in any discipline or its equivalent from any recognised University are eligible for the programme. Architecture:

The candidate should have passed individual subject and must have obtained at least 45% (40% in case
of candidate belonging to SC/ST category) marks in the above subjects taken together.

All the aforesaid admission into 5 year B.Arch. degree course are to be subject to passing NATA conducted by the council of architecture and the minimum passing score for NATA is 40% for all categories of candidates. NATA shall be a prerequisite for admission into B.Arch course, but the ranking shall be on the basis of OJEE-2012 ranking and admission to the course is based on the OJEE-2012 rank.

For admission to 1 Year Medical Stream (MBBS/BDS):

For admission to the first year of B. Arch., a candidate must have passed intermediate examination of UP Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University; securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate in compulsory and, optional subjects as given in information Brochure of UPSEE-2012. The candidate is essentially required to pass in each subject of the compulsory and optional subjects mentioned in the information Brochure of UPSEE – 2012 without grace marks.

A candidate possessing three year Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central/ State Govt., securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate is also eligible foradmission to the first year ot B.Arch. only. The candidates will have to appear in the Entrance Examination
UPSEE-2012 for admission to first year of B.Arch. (paper – 4) as mentioned above.

For admission to the first year of MBA course, candidate must have passed bachelors degree course of minimum three year duration from any recognized university of India. (i)                He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./B.D.S. course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.

Further, for persons for locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those who are appearing plus two examination in 2012 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.

A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 12th Standard in 2012 whose result is awaited, may also apply and take up the said test but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the MBBS or BDS, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks at the time of first round of allotment by personal appearance.

Examination Pattern

The entrance examination consists of:

Preliminary Examination: The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 3 hours.

Final Examination: (Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination). The Final Examination would consist of one paper containing 120 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 3 hours.
