No More Distance Learning in Physiotherapy
Many courses like Physiotherapy in which practical training and hands –on-experience is required, were being run in distance mode. These courses were being offered by many Open Universities and other Universities in Distance Leaning Mode.
University Grant Commission UGC has banned all such courses in May 2010 to operate in distance mode by any university in India. University Grant Commission followed the ruling of Delhi High Court and Instructed all the universities that a professional course must also impart practical training and, therefore professional courses should not be allowed to imparted through the distance education system.
Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) raised this issued in 2004 and moved to the court regarding ban in such courses in distance mode.
