With an aim to innovate the education system, the University of Delhi (DU), the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University, the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi (IIT – D) are planning to create a Meta – University.

These universities are collaborating so that higher education can be accessible to everyone.

DU Vice-Chancellor, Dinesh Singh emphasized on the idea while delivering a lecture on ‘Education in 21st Century’ at Vasant Valley School on Wednesday.

He said that some students may not want to complete semesters in quick succession. They can sit in any university and pursue the options they desire. That is the fun of Meta-University.

Mr. Singh further pointed out that India needs to improve the ways of imparting and seeking education. In this age of global change, creating a hybrid model of education is essential and therefore, a Meta-University will be launched in July 2012.

Knowledge is omni-present and we are required to restructure our institutional set up and turn learning into a two-way process.
