The prospectus and application forms are available from 16th July, 2012 to 6th August, 2012 for Rs. 450 for general candidates and Rs. 300 for SC/ST and physically challenged candidates. The prospectus for these programmes is only available SBI Delhi University (North campus). Students can also obtain their M.Phil and Ph.D forms through post, by sending a demand draft of Rs. 525 for general category candidates and Rs. 375 for SC/ST andphysically challenged candidates.

The Goa Board introduced the grading system during the April 2011 public exams, but decided to mark students with grades as well as marks on the marksheets to enable them to understand the system during the first year of the grading system’s implementation. The board continued the system of allotting marks and grades during this year’s exams too after confusion in 2011 over conversion of marks into grades.

In the 2012-13 academic year, the Goa Board will finally put its original plans of marking students only in grades into force.

“The board’s statement of grades cum passing certificate shall contain only grades secured by the candidate (during the academic year 2012-13). However, the marks range equivalent of a grade will be given on the reverse of the certificate,” states the circular of the Goa board issued to all high schools and higher secondary schools under its control.

The grading system in its current form will continue to be in force. A student who has secured ‘A’ grade falls in the marks range of 91 to 100%, one who has secured ‘B’ grade falls in the range of 81 to 90% marks, ‘C’ grade will translate into 71 to 80% marks and so on and so forth.

The new circular also states that if a student wishes to seek admissions to an institute based outside Goa, which needs to know the exact marks scored by the student as part of its admission procedure, then the Goa board will ‘issue transcript of marks directly to the institutions/boards/universities’ to which the student has sought admission.

The new circular of the board also states that whenever there is a revision in syllabus, ‘the repeaters will be given three years to procure qualifying grades, including the year of his/her first attempt at the public examination, in the pre-revised syllabus/text in which the examination was answered at the first attempt. Thereafter, the repeater candidate shall have to answer the uncleared subject/s in the revised syllabus’. Students who have cleared the Class X and XII examinations will be given just one opportunity to improve their grades within two years of passing the exams. The new circular states that the first mid-term test is to be conducted in the first week of August, the first term examination prior to the Diwali vacation and the second term examination during January.

These new norms will take effect from April 01, 2012. Teachers argue that if the students are not there whom they will teach as there is no change in teaching time. The school timings for students will be remaining same as 6 hours and 10 minutes.

The sangathan argues that RTE Act 2009 envisages 45 hours of work per week i.e. 7 Hours and 30 minutes par day. This includes planning/ preparation/ checking and other follow up work. School functions for 6 hours and 10 minutes therefore teachers may be retained after school hours for additional 1 hour and 20 minutes which can be used for planning/ preparation/ checking/ follow-up word and for ensuring safe arrival and exit of students before and after the school hours.

Over the past two decades, AIMA’s Management Aptitude Test (MAT) has been successfully availed by students across the country seeking admission in B-Schools. It remains the largest test in its category in terms of participation and reach, with several lakh students availing it each year. Today, over 600 B-schools in the country recognize and use MAT for admission to their institutions.

There are no plans to discontinue the MAT exam, as it is the largest test of its kind with national acceptance. AIMA will continue to administer MAT to MBA aspirants and recently concluded a test on 5th February 2012.The schedule of the next few MAT Tests is as under:

These Paper Based Tests will be followed by Computer Based Test in multiple slots in following Saturdays of each MAT administration.

MAT’s uniqueness and success lies in its inclusiveness. It is administered in both the online and paper based format, thus reaching out to a much wider audience. Moreover, it accommodates the mixed education background of students while staying rigorous on testing aptitude.

AIMA has been successfully administering MAT for over 20 years now in both the online and written format. While the online version of MAT was introduced three years back, trends indicate that only 9% of the students opt for the computer based test.
