Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students
The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India has introduced a new scholarship scheme titled “Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students” with the objective to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low-income families to meet day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies. The Scheme shall be effective for Class XII students w.e.f. 2008 Examination.
The scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of the results of Senior Secondary Examination (class XII) of 10+2 pattern or equivalent and have scored a minimum of 80% marks. 82000 fresh scholarships per annum (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls) will be awarded for graduate / postgraduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses such as Medical, Engineering etc.
The total number of scholarships will be divided amongst the State Boards based on the State’s population in the age group of 18-25 years, after segregating share of CBSE and ICSE on the basis of number of students passing out from various Boards in the country. The number of scholarships allotted to a Board would be distributed amongst pass outs of the Science, Commerce and Humanities streams of the Board in the ratio of 3:2:1 with equal number among boys and girls. Within the specified quota, the selection shall be made on merit.
The detailed guidelines regarding “Scheme of Scholarship” and “Instructions for CBSE Candidates” of this scholarship scheme may be seen in the Board’s website www.cbse.nic.in.
Depending on the number of scholarship available for the CBSE students, candidates who have secured the cut-off marks (as per table below) in the Senior School Certificate Examination 2008 conducted by CBSE are being provisionally considered for award of scholarship under this scheme:
SC/ST/OBC Marks obtained in aggregate of first five subjects 80% and above All Stream
General Marks obtained in aggregate of first five subjects 90% and above in Science Stream
General Marks obtained in aggregate of first five subjects 87% and above in Commerce Stream
General Marks obtained in aggregate of first five subjects 80% and above in Arts and others Stream
Letters to 18745 CBSE candidates as per above Cut-Off marks have been dispatched to candidates through schools. Candidates may collect their letters from the school from where they have passed Class XII in 2008.
This is a provisional offer only and final selection will depend on the student satisfying the eligibility criteria and number of scholarships available for CBSE’s quota under each category of stream. Within the specified quota, however, the selection will be purely on merit.
In case the candidates have passed Class XII from CBSE in 2008 and satisfy the eligibility criteria of this Scholarship Scheme and have secured aggregate marks as per above table, may visit Board’s website cbse.nic.in and fill up the Application as per “Instructions for CBSE candidates” given in Board’s website.
Last date for submission of Applications was 05.11.2008 but it has been extended to 10 May 2009 by the CBSE.

dear students ,the amount for css for the year 2009-10 was alloted to all the states in time and the state ‘s collegiate education dept which is nodal agency for the selection and distribution of this scholarship for concerned state taken initiative to disburse the same.in our state(tamilnadu) the dept of collegiate edn asked the students to open bank a/c and furnish the details in a new renewal form along with principal’s authoraisation and signature of bank manager.the procedure become simple and we got css within few weeks.
regarding the selection of eligible students for css the ranking (as per % of mark scored)in their state /central board ,community,&gender are factors.if your application is filled correctly and accepted and selected your college authorities will receive a letter of allocation and inform you about your selection.If you already in receipt of any other scholarship from any govt source you may have to stand lost.

Sir i got a 72% in 12 class but my aconomic condition is not good my father not here becouse his death before some time and my mother income is a 30,000 per year and i am belong to the general categry so pleace give me a scholarship………………

Respected sir/madam can u give the information that when the scholarship forms for post graduation students get the forms and what was the first and the last date of form plz.reply soon as possible because by not getting these information on time we are getting late and these is the main reason that many students did not get these opproutunity so please help us as soon as possible reply must.

central sector scholarship scheme 2010-11 naveenikaran ka liye maine apply kiya tha but scholarship abhi tak mera bank account ma nahi ayi hai please mujhe mere id per info de sakte hai thanks

i was applied to central sector scolarship but i m not gain my scolarship, but my all frends are able to take this scolarship , and my percentage is very greater than with compare to my all frends, so plz give me detail for this.

PLEASE SEND ME THE LIST OF THE CANDIDATES WHO ARE SELECTED FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP SO THAT I CAN KNOW WHETHER I AM IN THE LIST OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED STUDENTS OR NOT.
