Department Of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (University Of Delhi),Block-B, Vikas Puri, New Delhi-18, has invited admissions to various courses in Physical Education.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admission to B.Sc.(Physical Education, Health Education & Sports ), B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. programme will be done on the basis of Written Tests and Interview which comprise of the following components of the cumulative merit list*:

(i) Written Test 60 Marks (Objective Type Test 50 Marks+Comprehension and / or Expression Test 10 Marks )
(ii) Sports Proficiency Test
(a)Sports Representation*

(b) Playing Ability Test

(iv) Physical Fitness Test Qualifying
(v) Medical Examination Qualifying
*Sports representation score will be determined as described in th Appendix-I for M.P.Ed. and B.P. and Appendix-II for B.Sc.
*To promote the transparency at the time of the display of final merit lists, the split marks secured by the candidates in various components of the Admission Test may also be displayed on the Notice Board.

How to Apply

1. Before filling in the application form, candidates are advised to read the prospectus carefully and ensure their eligibility for admission, as per the conditions laid down in the prospectus.

2.Candidates are required to apply on the prescribed application form only. The application form along with the Attendance Card should be filled in by the candidate in his/her own handwriting using a ball point pen. Incomplete applications shall be rejected, without assigning any further reasons.

4. Cheque/ Money Order/Postal Order shall not be accepted. The candidate should write his/her name and form number on the reverse of the bank draft before sending the application by mail.

5. The candidate should ensure that the following documents are attached with his/her application form at the time of submission :

(i) Cash payment receipt of the Entrance Test Fee.

(ii) Attested copies of all certificates  / mark sheets.

(iii) Four passport size photographs (two attested affixed on the application form and one without attestation on the Attendance Card.)

(iv) No Objection Certificate from the present employers (in case of employed candidates only)

6. The fact a candidate has been allowed to appear in the Entrance tests or interview does not imply that the candidate’s eligibility to the course has been verified.

7. Entrance Test Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

ENTRANCE TEST DETAILS

Description of Written Test

1. Objective Test:

There  shall be 100 multiple choice test items. Questions maybe set from the following major areas to assess competence.

. Reasoning. To assess logical reasoning, establishing relations, analogy, drawing conclusions etc.

. General Awareness. General knowledge about event (National  & International, Personalities, Literary, Sports, Film, Music etc.)

. Subjects. Basic ideas related to health, environment, education including sports.

. Professional Subjects. Applicable only forM.P.Ed.Subjects taught at qualifying degrees mentioned in eligibility conditions.

. Aptitude and Attitude. Apptitude related to games, sports and Attitude towards physical education and sports as a vocation and profession.

. Compreshension and / or Expression Test (E-Test) :

It aims at assessing candidate’s ability of comprehensing language through exercise of precis, meaning of words, phrases and articulation of language (any one or more mode.)

The Expression Test will be designed to judge creative and proper use of language. This test can be attempted either in Hindi or English but the same medium must be used in all parts of the Expression Test.

2. PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST QUALIFYING
The Modified Canadian Physical Fitness Test will be used. A brief description of the test is given below.

Time will be recorded upto the fraction of a second. The Qualifying time for men & women candidate will be 38 seconds, The candidates clocking 38 seconds will qualify for further admission process.

Important Notes :
. A candidate will be given a maximum of three chances.
. Hurdle should be crossed without being knocked down. If a student/candidate leaves the test incomplete, he/she will be disqualified for that trial. If any candidate fails or slips while performing the test, he/she must complete the test and should not drop out in between failing which the candidate will loose one chance out of the three chances.

3. SPORTS PROFICIENCY TEST

(A)

PLAYING ABILITY TEST The proficiency of the candidate will be assessed only in one of the two games mentioned by the candidate out of the affiliated list of AIU, IOA & SGFI (Association of Indian Universities, Indian Olympic Association & School Games Federation of Indian) as indicated in the application form.

(B)

SPORTS REPRESENTATION

For playing Ability Sports Representation weightage/marks in games/sports affiliated to AIU, IOA & SGFI will be considered for preparation of merit list for different categories for admission in Physical Education Courses these marks will be awarded in accordance with Appendices I and II INTERVIEW A limited number of candidates (approx. twice the no. of seats available in each course) will be called for interviews. ADMISSION OF THE SELECTED CANDIDATES.The candidates finally selected for admission to any of the physical education course shall be required to pay the requisite fee at the time of admission as per notification latest by the date and time mentioned in the Prospectus.The following documents in original alongwith an attested copy thereof will have to be produced at the time of admission.(i)High school/Secondary School Certificate for verification of date of birth.(ii)Statement of Marks in the Qualifying examination passed.(iii)Provisional/Degree Certificate in the Qualifying examination passed.(iv)Character Certificate from the institution last attended.(v)Sports Representation/Achievement Certificates (s)(vi)

In the case of in-service candidate, no-objection certificate along with the leave sanctioned certificate for course duration.(vii)

Caste Certificate for belonging to the Reserved Category wherever applicable, to be issued by the competent authority..Failure to submit any of the above-mentioned documents at the time of admission will result in the cancellation of admission..All Physical Education courses at the IGIPESS are full-time courses. Students are not permitted to take-up any employment or study for any other examination during the entire period of the Course..It is mandatory for the candidates to maintain an optimum level of fitness to undertake physical education courses. No female candidate shall be allowed to continue the course of study for the concerned academic year/s if she carries pregnancy..All the selected candidates admitted to any of the programme are required to join the programme on the opening day of the new academic session as notified in the Prospectus.

(a) Tournaments mentioned at (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) must be approved by Indian Olympic Association/School Games Federation of India/Govt. of India and the player/student must have participated in the National School games organised by SGFI or should have secured Ist,2nd, or 3rd position in the Zonal Competitions organised by Sports Deptt.  of Delhi Govt. For Category (f) participation at Senior/Junior National Championship and Category (g) position in State Championship the player/student must have secured Ist, 2nd or 3rd position in the Zonal level tournaments or equivalent competition..
(b) The level of Competency in the Sports will be determined only if the candidate has achieved distinctions in sports during the last eligible three years. Participating given above is the order of preference for admission in all the courses.
(c) KVS, CBSE, Navodaya cluster and regional is equivalent to zone whereas KVS (National)/ CBSE National/Navodaya National is equal to inter-zone.
(d) In case any candidate is holding the National participation certificate, it must be supported by certificate of participation at state level or position secured at the Inter-Zonal Competition of the same (respective) game.
(e) Position holder of the state championships must be considered with their supporting certificate/ authentication at district level or zonal level or an equivalent level position.
Important Instructions to Candidates
* Please note your Roll No. and Centre (Name, Place etc.) carefully from the Notice Board of the IGIPESS as the case may be, for all components of the Entrance Test.
* Present yourself at the venue at least one hour before the schedule time of Written Test. There will be strictly no entry of any candidate after 10.00 a.m. for BSc. 11.00 A.M. for B.P.Ed. and 11:00a.m. for M.P. Ed.
* Bring two good quality Blue (Preferably Black) ball point pens. Using any other Colour will lead to cancellation of Paper.
* A seat with the roll number will be allotted to each candidate forth Written Test (on producing counterfoil of the form with his/her photograph duly pasted.) Candidates must occupy their allotted seats before the scheduled time for Test.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria for various courses are listed below:

M.P.Ed. Part-I

A candidate seeking admission to the two years M.P.Ed. degree course must have passed B.Sc (Physical Education, Health Education & Sports)/B.P.E/B.P.Ed./D.P.Ed./P.G.D.P.Ed. or an equivalent examination recognized by D.U. with at least 50% marks** in aggregate.

Age.Candidate should be at least of 20 years of age on 01.1.2007

B.P.Ed.

Graduate* degree in Physical Education (e.g., B.Sc. (P.E., H.E. & Sports) or B.P.E.) of three years duration with at least 45% marks ** in aggregate.

or

Graduate* Degree with at last 45% marks** and having represented State/University in sports/games/athletics at Sr. National-state/Inter-varsity Championship.

or

Graduate* degree securing at least 45% marks** and having studied physical education as one of the subjects securing at least 50% marks in physical education at graduate level.

or

Graduate* degree securing at least45%marks** in aggregate and who has been member of teams securing Ist and / or 2nd position in Inter-collegiate sports/games tournaments or Ist, 2nd or 3rd individual position in individual/dual events or possessing NCC ‘C’ certificate.

Graduate* with at least 45% marks** and with one year Diploma in Coaching from NSNIS, one year course in Sports science, Sports management, Sports coaching, Yoga, Olympic education, Sports journalism, etc. All Degree/Diplomas for the courses mentioned should be awarded by UGC recognized universities.

Age. Candidate should be at least of 20 years of age as on 01.10.2007

B.Sc. (P.E., H.E. & Sports) Part-I

* Candidate seeking admission to B.Sc. (P.E., H.E. & Sports) Part-I course must have passed Class XII Examination of t Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or an examination recognized as equivalent there to with at least 45% marks** in the aggregate, (The aggregate marks will be determined on the basis of the language and three best subjects).

Age.Candidate seeking admission to B.Sc (P.E., & Sports) should be at least 17 years of age as on Oct. Ist, 2007

In B.Sc (PE, HE & Sports) 5% seats will be reserved for those students who have studied and secured more than 60% marks in Physical Education in Senior Secondary Examination.

KVs, CBSE, Navodaya Cluster and Regional is equivalent to Zone where as, K.V.S. (National) CBSE National / Navodaya National is equivalent to Inter-Zone.

In case, any candidate is holding the national participation certificate, it must be supported by certificate of participation at state level or position secured at the inter-zonal competition of the same (respective) game. The relevant certificate should be duly signed by the president and / or secretary in person.

Note:The percentage of eligibility marks may be increased by 5% especially for non-sports persons on the final decision of D.U

* Position holder of the State Championships must be considered with their supporting certificate / authentication at district level or zonal level or an equivalent level position.

* (10+2+3 pattern).

* Relaxation allowed as per University Rules.

RESERVATION OF SEATS

1. Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribes (S.C./S.T.) A total number of 22.5% seats (15% S.C. and 7.5% for S.T.) are reserved for these categories in each course. The candidates will be entitled for a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility condition.

Each candidate from these reserved categories while applying for admission will be required to submit a certificate from the competent authority with respect to his/her status as S.C./S.T. The candidates will be entitled for a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility condition.

2.Other backward class (OBC) A total number of upto 27% seats are reserved for these category in course.

The total number of seats in each course based on OBC reservation decision, would be known only after the relevant final communication received from the university of Delhi in this regard.

3. Children and Ward of Armed Personnel (C.W.A.P.)

(i) 5% of the seats in each subject group are reserved for the children/widows/wives of officers and men of the Armed forces including Para Military Personnel Killed or disabled in action.

(ii) The case of the wives/widows/children of officers and men of the Armed Forces including Para Military Personnel who died/were disable while on duty will be considered for admission against 5% seats reserved in this category. In case, any seat remains vacant after admission of persons in category 2(i) above such vacant seats will be filled up with general category candidates.

In order to become eligible for the above concession, the C./W.A.P. candidates will be required to produce the Entitlement Card issued by the Record Officer of the Unit/Regiment of armed personnel of the Armed Forces. The candidates will be entitled for a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility condition.

1. Candidates  belonging to various reserved categories have to undergo the entire Entrance Test procedure

2. Applications of all foreign students must come through the office of the Foreign Students Advisor of Delhi University.
